My mother had many of her poems published in the local paper during the years she raised us ten kids. I am proud to share them with you now! She is currently a widow after 52 years of marriage!

Rev. John J.

This demonstrative gentleman preacher

Gives his all in a striking lecture...

Who could possibly then read the missalettte---

With the resounding, emphatic story you get?

He enjoys as an elaborator,

Being God's glorious collaborator,

This man is most nearly always the same

I never hear him ever complain!

He's the Shakespeare of religion

Who distinctively teaches the children,

And always walks with a very impressive gait,

Hopefully with the help of God receives an outstanding fate.

With Love To Mother

When our Heavenly Father

Made you dear Mother...

His choice was best by far,

For your worth is beyond a star;

Always giving, praying and caring

And showing happiness in sharing.

You are my kind a loyal friend.

Who else better could He send?

As you cast away bitterness from view..

You let the sunshine through.

I trust with the saints assistance,

Help comes when you receive resistance.

Just like the beautiful, unfolding petals of a rose,

Your love you give with tender repose.

Thank you for helping me to see the light,

When things do not look so bright.

Hopefully with God's mercy hearts will mend,

And pray our true, jubilant friendship never ends.

Christmas Reflections

Written December 22, 1977

Now while joyful music is in the air...

Many people are rushin', shovin', pushin' here and elsewhere;

Whoops! There's a friend of mine over there!

What's that you've wrapped up and for who?

Also is it a matter of what fits, too?

...H'mm fair maiden will you pray...

To good St. Thomas before the end of the day?

While sleeping on a peeled onion December twentieth,

To see in a dream if your groom to be cometh?

The children have just tumbled into bed

While they have been previously well fed.

Do you have some warm heart?

And soft, clean, white sheets?

If you gave something to the poor,

So they won't have to ask for more...

You will sleep in a calm peace;

While all problems temporarily cease!

If you look out your window,

It is a most beautiful sight

To see a clear sky, stars and moon out tonight.

And perhaps a little white snow on trees and lawn...

So you can coast after the very break of dawn!

Shh! Who's that coming? Oh! It's St. Nick!

All decked out from head to foot ----slick!

See what is jolly Santa's new trick!!

Just take a look and see what's up his sleeve,

There's another gift for you and me he'll retrieve...

When all the toys have run out---

Cause Mr. Claus is a very good scout!

The three kings who traveled far...

Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar!

To worship, praise and give glory to God,

After riding upon camels on snow-covered sod.

They now show us by their example of worth,

To pay our Creator good homage in church!
