How do I write a good profile for a dating website? What is the best way to write profiles for a dating site?
Honestly, by now I hate the idea of online dating, I think it's a joke! I think in most cases even we ourselves get caught up in not tell the 100% truth. I mean, why would you want to waste your time when probaby half of the people on there are not who they say they are? Also:
- Many people just want sex
- Many have old photos from 2,3,10, 20 years ago!
- People lie about their weight
- People........Lie
But, If we must, we must
I've always had trouble when participating in a dating website, and I always wondered what to write for my profile. I don't ever think I did myself justice by the way, and that was partly due to lack of writing skills, and applying them to me. You have to sell yourself to someone metaphorically, like with a resume because they don't know you and it's best to describe yourself the way you really are because that will peak their interest the most: the unusual, interesting, unique you :-)
There's usually 3 parts to a profile :
- About me
- My Interests
- Who I'm looking for
Let's start with About Me! What kind of person are you? Are you shy? Are you funny? Skeptical? Sarcastic? You know you can find out by having your handwriting analyed or taking a personality test, but the hard part is putting it into a snazzy profile- sorta like the profiles on hubpages!
Write down a list of things about you such as.........
sweet
kind
sincere
funny
loving
neat freak
Then start out with a draft and fix it 1 or 2 times. You could say: Howdy! I'm a southern girl who loves to cook but riding on the back of a Harley is even more fun! I don't smoke and I love kids but I want to wait awhile. I am a professional dance teacher. I love skiing, carnivals, and tattoos.
Make it as creative, friendly, descriptive, wild as you wish.
Who I'm looking for
This is a little tough. You have to -as mentioned earlier- sort of make a list of qualities you like and then not expect all of them. State things in such a way that you sound easy going and not expecting perfection - for that's not fair, unless you are~and (no body really is :)
You could say:
I'm looking for a hardworking man who is strong minded and takes care of his body. Intelligent men drive me crazy and those who have a sense of humor and appreciate life to the fullest! I look forward to lying on my bear rug with you sipping wine and having passionate discussions!
Also, look at other women's profiles for tips on how they describe themselves and state what they like, etc.
Talking about Interests
Sometimes we have a hard time describing our most passionate interests. Talking about things like: I go to the gym, love pizza, and love to go to concerts, just may not do the best trick. A good variety [Variety is the spice of Life!] of interests is key.
First write down your categories:
- hobbies
- physical things
- music things
- entertainment things
Then you could list them kinda like this:
Poetry, dancing, swimming, karokee, beaches, tattoos, tennis, bowling, mangoes, dark chocolate.
You can use specific names of singers and tv shows also.
:) :) :) :) :) :) I thought this may be of help to some- since I recently discovered the "Art of writing dating profiles!!!"
