The Creative Artist Is Close To My Heart

We all have our favorite music. Favorite singers and performers who touch us in many ways. The 5 I've shown here are hardcore professionals. They have earned their status as "rock gods". It takes a few things in a rock star I need to really like them:

  • Great voice
  • Individuality
  • Great stage performance
  • Passion

There are many great singers and songwriters. But I'd like to share some of my favorites and say why I like them. You may have noticed my favorite genre is classic rock. I hope you enjoy the following :-) Honestly, I feel this may be my most passionate hub, talking about these greats and how music makes me so happy, is an honor and a priviledge. Music is life, that's how I feel and it's so joyful to ponder on the beauty and creativity of these lovely musicians.

Steven Tyler

Steven Victor Tallarico was born March 26, 1948. He is an the lead singer of Aerosmith and also plays the harmonica, and occasional piano and percussion. He is well-known for his stage acrobatics. During his high-energy performances, he wears bright, colorful outfits with his trademark scarves hanging from his microphone stand. [source: Wikipedia]

What drew me to Aerosmith when I was young was their album Big Ones . I remember hearing Janie's Got a Gun in high school. But I really fell for them when I heard their older hits "Walk this Way " and "Sweet Emotion ". The videos with Alicia Silverstone were really cool during the beginning of MTV in the 80's! Steven had a drug addiction in the past and the band has fought on several occassions but I don't think anyone could replace Steven Tyler. Steven has a prowess on stage, an attitude that I really like and he's from my hometown, Boston, MA. I love his style and music.

Tina Turner

Tina Turner is an exceptional singer, with a powerful stage presence who blossomed in the 70's also. She started out with Ike Turner and they married. Ike was very abusive to Tina and she eventually divorced him. She then began her own career, a bold move to go out on her own. Since then she's had numerous hits like "What's Love Got to Do With It" and a slew of others including, "Simply the Best", "Private Dancer", and "Better Be Good to Me".

Tina is still very attractive and she is in her early 70's! She still peforms. After years of being on her feet in heels, she has amazing legs and sings like a champion. She is well liked by her fans and doesn't disappoint.

I love her voice and passion and total dedication to singing and dancing. I also loved the her autobiographical movie What's Love Got to Do With It . She has been recognized as one of the greatest singers of all time in Rolling Stone magazine.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones formed in April, 1962, coming from England. Mick and Keith were boyhood friends. Today they still tour and have been together 48 years, just shy of 50 yrs. I have not seen any other band alive today who has been together as long. It's amazing!

Mick Jagger is the frontman and singer. What an amazing prescense he has on stage! He runs around and moves fast like a 30 year old. I like the way he moves, his confidence and mobility, his style. I imagine myself like that as a performer. He is passionate and puts everything into his perfomance. He and Tina did some collaborations also.

Band members: Mick Jagger (vocals), Ron Wood (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass guitar) and Keith Richards (guitar). Past Members: Mick Taylor, Brian Jones.

I saw the "Stones" in 1993 on their Voodo Lounge tour. My favorite all time song by them is Start Me Up!

Heart

With Heart, I chose a video in which they are older than when they started in the 70's...Ann's voice just seems to have gotten better and better and I LOVE this verson ;) I have to give credit to Heart. Starting out in the early 1970's from Seattle Washington, even in the very beginning Ann Wilson, lead vocalist and her sister Nancy were very impressive. Ann's voice got even better as time went on. She blew me away in "Magic Man", "Barracuda", and in the 80's with "What About Love" and also my all time favorite "Crazy on you."

I have never seen such passion, such vocals, from any other woman band. The two are also beautiful and their song lyrics powerful. Their success declined in 1882-1984 and came back in 1985-1990. The have 2 Greatest Hits Albums. Ann also besides lead and back vocals does flute, guitar, keyboards, percussion, violin, autoharp. Impressive! Nancy also does besides vocals: guitar (acoustic guitars, electric guitars, lead guitar), mandolin, keyboards, synthesizers, harmonica.

The video you are about to watch [Above] gives me chills. These are two kickass women and I like that!

Stever Perry~A man after my heart

Steve is one of the sweetest, most passionate male singers I've heard. Watching videos of him, I am captivated by his amazing voice, amazing is an understatement in his case, (but also he gives his complete all in passion....)

He was with Journey for about 10 years and got worn out from all the constant touring. During his time with them, their fame and success went up several notches. His velvety voice and collaboration with the band to do softer, more romantic songs, sent female fans, and male a flying. Never before had they heard rock music with such words and passion.

Steve was always a gentleman to my knowledge to his fans and people in life. Clips show him going out of his way for fans. He is just such a humble sweet guy--the kind of guy you just love. He did a solo album Street Talk and his hit Oh Sherrie appealed to women on a massive level. He is also considered to be one of the best vocalists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine ranking #76 on that list.

"Perry's vocal classification is Tenore contraltino, a term used to describe a man who sings in the highest possible male register, He is known for his extensive vocal range (high tenor-low bass). He is also famous for his ability to change quickly from a low to high note, which can be heard on the Journey song "Homemade Love" on the album Departure. "[Courtesy Wikipedia] Perry and Freddie Mercury both have huge vocal ranges along with Maria Carey.

Great hub and awesome videos. My all time favorite has always been ZZ Top then the Rolling Stones but I do have to agree that Steve Perry of Journey probably has the best male singing voice of all time.

I absolutely love the songs love in an elevator and open arms - two great artists. I will say that Areosmith either hits or misses with their songs and Journey has not been the same without Perry. I love this hub though.

Hi mtsi1098, thanks. I agree! lol agree on that too! Journey is definitely not the same, the new singer Arnel P, I think it is, sounds similar but I just love Perry- he was the first and unreplaceable. Such a sweet man.

Oh...I didn't put Billy Joel in it though? ;)

mtsi1098, btw, speaking of Aerosmith..I know a lady in her 40's or early 50's who has a tatoo of the symbol of Aerosmith and she's so cool, she's been to tons of their concerts, says she won't go to any more unless she has front row seats and backstage passes, a hardcore fan if I ever saw one.
