New Cat Giving You a Hard Time? What To Do and a Most Unusual Solution!

Well, I've had many cats. I grew up with cats and I've had some of my own. But it had been awhile because I had two losses. So finally, I found a new cat which I got at a pet rescue store location in Natick, MA. Actually the owner put it on craigslist but I had to sign paperwork at the pet place.

Anywho, I got my kitty. The first day he was very affectionate but spent 5 hours here and there sleeping behind my bed. Slowly his company really relaxed me as it happens with pets, I was really happy. I gave him the food he likes, the water, fixed his litter box of course, the whole thing. The only thing was I had no toys so I gave him some stuff around the house to play with which was okay.

Well he liked a lot of attention so I gave him lots of loving. But the one thing he started doing non stop was meow and I noticed he was looking out the windows alot, so I gave him access to fresh air and window space. All was good. But why the meowing?

Well, cats need time to adjust. And he was waking me up all night so I finally put him in his own room and shut the door with his food, water, and litter. And that's ok to do, in case you're wondering. Many people do that and have to do it to get sleep.

But still meowing. What could I do? Well, I wanted to let him on my porch, but was afraid he'd slip through the railing bars. I went to petco and got him a harness and a leash to let him go outside on the porch.

Well, he chose to stay in, but once I had that harness on him.....wow. He totally relaxed and rolled around in in, and even started licking himself! It was like the harness was a comfort, a reassurance, a "hug" that was "hugging him."

I have never had an experience like that before and I'm just so glad I found out!

Another thing I did was start talking to him regularly. If your cat is very vocal like mine, and likes to talk, you should probably talk to him too! And it's kinda fun!
