What is the best cellphone to buy? Buy a cell phone this month
If you do a google search, the best cellphone that comes up is T-mobile. Why? It has the cheapest plans, against at&t and verizon. T-mobile has the best rate plans too, because their lowest plan is $29.99 for 500 minutes plus weekends and nights unlimited. You can increase your plan (and anytime minutes) too. Also note if you have AAA, you get a discount on T-mobile. Personally, I've had it for years and it has very good reception, though the others will tell you different. Also T-mobile (and at&t and verizon) have Mobile to Mobile- you can call as much as you want other friens who have the same T-mobile or cell phone plan. T-mobile is the best plan for unlimited mobile-mobile.
So, you need to decide what is best, and what kind of calling you are going to make and how much.
Now, if you want unlimited minutes, the cheapest is Metro PCS or Fast Talk. Fast Talk gives you 1000 minutes, 1000 texting, and free 411 calls for $30. I believe there is no tax, and you buy the minute care every month--no contract with this--or you can have them deduct the $30 every month from your debit or credit--but you can cancel anytime. They don't give you a free phone like T-mobile or at&t or verizon (for a 2 yr contract) but the phones are affordable from about $59 to $99.
Fast Talk has two plans, actually. It has the $30 plan with 1000 minutes, texts, and free 411. It also has a $45 plan for unlimited minutes, texts, and 411 calls. I think it has free web access too. This is the best plan of unlimited minutes w/ no contract.
But if you want an internet connection anywhere , verizon or at&t is the way to go- they provide a new phone which will give internet access to any laptop (or pc enabled for wifi). One of their phones is here. It's a verizon phone for $59.99 a month - which included internet access. The internet access is generally $20 extra a month- so that's a small fee for internet, when other companies like RCN charge around $35-$40 monthly.

Metro PCS
Metro PCS is a new carrier that has the most features now for the smallest cost. You get unlimited talk, text, and web for $40. That's a steal. I've had 3 different phones by them and for me the flip phone is the best. They do have a smart phone which is similar to an iphone but I only paid $145 plus $30 rebate, but it was complicated for me with the touch screen I felt it was hard to text and to make calls but great for facebook.
So, you could try Metro PCS but if you get the smartphone, your service goes up to $50 a month just so you know, and if you buy a new phone, in order to return it to change phones, you have to do it before you use an hour of air time. That messed me up twice.

dgicre,
Yeah, the contract things stinks. That's why many choose metroPCS or FastTalk. Personally I've had T-Mobile for like 7 years and always had great coverage. The unlimited mobile to mobile is the best feature for me. Thanks!
I found your quick overview very helpful. It gives me a starting point from which to rethink my cell phone carrier. I'm on at&t but have been wondering about T-Mobile. I've been told by those who had T-Mobile a while ago that the customer service wasn't good. How is it now? Thanks!
Hi Ms Dee,
I'm happy to tell you thru my 7 yrs or so w/ T-Mobile, they have the best service ever. I've gotten them to take things off my bill, credit for being a long time customer, very friendly and courtesous service (this is rare) and a free phone w/ 2yr contract. Thou right now I'm on the ever more plan, and have no contact. I just got a new phone for $159.99 but I pay $9 a month :) They have been appreciative of my long time status and they want to keep you and will be flexible.
My plan on evermore is $10 less than most I think because of my long standing. Good luck w/ it, SG
This is really good to hear how you've benefitted as a TMobile customer. This sounds best, so am looking forward to switching to them next year when my current contract is up. Thanks for your help! :)
Well I am glad to be of help! My new flip phone the LG Lite blue is really cool :D

I like T-Mobile as well, they offer good coverage and decent plans. Thanks for sharing this information. Wish I was not stuck with AT&T for my iPhone. Wish Apple would switch carriers or give people a choice.
