Catholic Or Born Again Christian. Which Is Correct?

Updated on November 23, 2014

Born again Christians are basically Christians who believe in the bible and live by it, try to anyhow, that's the goal. They believe you must accept Christ as your savior, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and enter your life via the Holy Spirit. They read the bible and go to church and pray. There are three kinds: Pentecostal, Baptist, and Evangelical.

Catholics are also Christians who believe in and worship Jesus Christ, but they also have traditions passed on since the Apostles. The early Christian Church was the Catholic church because we didn't have the printing press and bibles available to everyone until the 15th century.

This looks like a bible church but is actually a Catholic one.

The biggest mistake these two make is they tell false information about the other. But I will say, I believe Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. It is NOT helpful however for Christians to speak ill of the other! So be sure not to make that mistake. I credit the devil satan for causing confusion!

What bible Christians say about Catholics that is not true:

  1. They worship Mary. No they honor her because of the role she played and because they believe Jesus wants them to. There's a huge difference.
  2. They worship saints. No, they use the saints as role models.

What Catholics say about bible Christians that is not true:

  1. That once you accept Christ and get saved, your life is easy and you can sin all you want and don't have to obey good and do "good deeds". That is not true. Quite the contrary! Once one accepts Christ, he sees God go into work in his life and start molding the clay. God is the potter- we are the clay. And if we don't obey God, we can be "spiritually spanked!" Yes, we are guaranteed salvation, because in Ephesians it says we are saved by grace thru faith .....and predestinated according to the riches of his grace..and we cannot be plucked from His hand, praise God! Paul, the author of Ephesians, wrote to the people at Ephesus and called them "saints"!

Benefits of the Catholic Church

When you attend a Mass on Sunday, you will hear two readings from the bible, a gospel reading, a sermon- usually based on scripture, and psalms. You will also get to sing hymns.

The unbloody sacrifice of the Mass. Note the word "un-bloody." They are not putting Christ thru his crucifixion again and again. First of all, God cannot be made to do that. Second, it's symbolic not bloody.

Things that can increase your devotion to God:

  • stations of the cross
  • Divine mercy chaplet
  • beautiful art
  • gregorian chant

In the bible, it tells us, Mary was specially chosen by God to be Jesus' mother. She was there at His passion and death. He did not start his ministry until he was an adult, and obviously she was there as his mother, and anyone who understand the bond between mother and child would realize she was the closest person to Him, and therefore shared in His sufferings at His crucifixion through just watching. She's not our redeemer but she certainly had quite a role.

So, if God decides to honor Mary, and make her place in heaven very elevated as Catholic teaching says, that's His choice. I don't disagree. It seems very logical to me He would even listen to her requests if she asked him favors for certain people. This was likely to have happened on earth and now in heaven. He performed his first public miracle at the wedding feast at Cana and she was there and told the men to do whatever he said. Do you remember?

Our duty is to worship God alone. Let God favor whom He pleases.

Which church is the true church?

Many born again Christians will say you can be saved and still attend the Catholic church.

I stand on that.

As far as Catholics.....they do need to have a relationship with Jesus, based on faith, and not by works.

I love to be fed the Word of God (bible) at Christian churches or bible studys. I love to learn about God's word. It is necessary to fight the devil and to understand God and by reading His word, He speaks to you....His word is what He thinks and what He tells us to do.

I go to both. And that's what I'll continue to do, so long as they both help me.

But remember, the way to heaven is Jesus Christ. "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life" "No one comes to the Father but through Me."

Remember God loves you unconditionally for He made you the way you are! Come to Him. Trust in His great mercy. God bless you!

Those who seek the truth will find it!

Tell me this video does NOT increase your faith!

Don't worry, Christians, the above video, only contains one Hail Mary.

It starts with an Our Father, a Hail Mary, the Apostle's Creed, and then the Divine Mercy prayers....It is prayed on a rosary...but says "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, Have mercy on us and on the whole world" 50 times.

It's a way to meditate on Jesus' Passion. God likes us to do that.

However, if repeating a prayer over and over bothers you...then don't. I think some people find it easier to meditate that way though.

It WILL increase your faith!

Did you find you like both churches as well?

Blessed Assurance!

Gregorian Chant with English subtitles!

The author would like to add two more statements.

I believe we are in the end times, and I recommend you use all the things of God that will help you cope including the bible, hymns, and other Christian devotions like the stations of the cross, the divine mercy chaplet, and meditation on Jesus' passion. Remember, to meditate on Jesus' Passion is to worship and honor God more, to strengthen us also so we know we could never suffer what He did, and not to be afraid of any suffering we do have.

I find this a prettier chant. It's Kyrie Elieson (Lord Have mercy) Latin
